Custom gauge faces

Custom gauge faces, no disassembly required

Custom gauge faces used to mean pulling the cluster, popping off the needles and sliding in a printed overlay. On a digital dash, the gauge face is part of the picture on the screen, so you can design it however you want.

Printed faces vs. digital faces

Printed gauge faces are thin overlays that fit behind the needles of your factory gauges. They're a great way to freshen up a stock cluster, but you're stuck with the gauges and sizes your car came with, and every change means another set and another afternoon with the cluster apart.

On a digital dash like the Holley Pro Dash, the faces are drawn on the screen. You pick the size, the style, the numbers, the colors and even how many gauges there are. Changing them is a new layout on a USB stick.

What you can customize

  • Face color and material: white, black, charcoal, carbon fiber or any color you pick
  • Bezels: chrome, black chrome, thin silver or none
  • Numbers and tick marks: color, how often numbers show, and special scales like E, 1/2, F for fuel
  • Red zones: redline on the tach, or green, yellow and red on temperature
  • Logos and text: your shop logo, engine callout or car name right on the face

Why the needles line up

The hardest part of custom faces is getting the needle to point at the right number. The dash draws the needle, and your face is just a picture behind it, so if the two don't agree, the needle reads wrong. In Gauge Garage, the face and the needle are set up together from the same numbers, so 3,000 on the face is where the needle sits at 3,000 RPM.

One thing no layout can change: on the Pro Dash, needles are red. Design your faces around that. Red needles look great on white, black and carbon faces.
