LS swap gauges and digital dash
LS swap gauges: skip the adapters and run a digital dash
Getting the original gauges to work after an LS swap is one of the most annoying parts of the job. The sensors are different, the tach signal is different, and the adapters add up. If your swap runs Holley EFI, there's an easier way.

Why LS swap gauges are a headache
Your old cluster was built for the old engine. An LS uses different temperature and oil pressure sensors with different threads, and the tach signal doesn't always play nice with older tachs. So you end up buying adapter fittings, extra senders, a tach adapter, and sometimes a whole new set of aftermarket gauges, then running wires for each one.
The digital dash way
If your LS runs a Holley ECU like Terminator X, the ECU already knows RPM, coolant temperature, air/fuel ratio, timing, throttle and boost. A Holley Pro Dash reads all of that straight from the ECU. No extra senders, no tach adapter, no wire for every gauge.
You'll still want an oil pressure sensor, and a fuel level sender if you want a fuel gauge. Those wire into the ECU or the dash, and then they show up like everything else.
Which gauges to run on an LS swap
- Oil pressure: the one gauge you should never skip.
- Coolant temperature: swaps often have cooling tweaks, so keep an eye on it.
- Air/fuel ratio: tells you right away if something's off with the tune.
- Battery voltage: catches charging problems before they strand you.
- Speed and RPM: the big dials.
- Boost and vacuum: if it's turbo or supercharged.
- Transmission temperature: worth it for towing or heavy automatics.
LS swap layout ideas
- Trucks: big speedometer, tach and four small gauges in a brushed aluminum style. See C10, square body and OBS Chevy.
- Street cars: twin big dials in carbon and chrome. See G-Body and Camaro.
- Turbo builds: boost and air/fuel front and center with a shift light bar. See S10 and Fox body.
Every layout is a starting point. Open it in the designer, pick your gauges, change the look, and load it onto your dash.
